"This is downright disastrous." With these words, H. Senator Jovino Novoa (UDI) has criticized the current state of the Passenger Transport System (PTS). Strangely, for this time can not but be very much agree with the senator. It is sadly comical that these 4 words have been repeated more than three years on the lips of actual users of Transantiago (TS), and can not be otherwise.

Milena Velba Got Milk
... and want us to pay more on top?!
After the start of the STP-violent in times of Concertación-the changes made to the central idea that gave birth to TS have been minimal, not a few of them were made by the committees of Members (CDU) born spontaneously before the insult done to the popular sectors of Greater Santiago. However, these proposals and actions that took place when lifted, failed to solve the problem which involves the maintenance and viability of this STP scale, an issue that is related to the ownership of the system itself. Undoubtedly, this is an issue still pending.
Nonetheless, calls attention to the astonishment and anger of the honorable deal with a situation that he, his party and its alliance could be avoided. Torn clothing today gave its approval yesterday to a STP failed in its genesis, away from the needs of the population, with tours of unintelligible and useless, with machines "pimp" that did not yesterday, not today able to reduce the high levels of air pollution , with incredible delays and serious problems "frequency" with a prepayment system that borders on illegality and a state subsidy ensures that only income to the coffers of the 10 businessmen who took over a responsibility that falls to the State, transport workers, students and residents to respective destinations.
And despite these shortcomings, despite broken promises such as providing information on the signage for the elderly, facilitating access to bus stops and buses for the disabled; the unfulfilled promise of reducing air and noise pollution, the offer of reduction time trips were not satisfied, and so on, with most above all want to ... pay!. Who pays for rotten meat? Do they pay for a damaged car? Is it fair to pay for a service that is far in excess of what is offered?. No! It is not fair.
And as it is not fair to pay for a service that does not comply with the offering, nor is the silence of the innocent users.
It is imperative to resume the debate on the state's role in the transport of Santiago. The grant that all Chileans paid to owners of micro entrepreneurs will live the expense of other regions of the country and the quality of transport is far-still-the needs of the population.
While the above issues are the substantive disputes must be resolved in the immediate future we should be challenged to face new price hike in the passage that has revealed the current government.
March and April suffered two increments, with fifteen days away. Again in May will be an increase in the value of the ticket. From Monday May 10 was suspended duration of a passage for two hours. There is no doubt that the next step will be payable on each transfer and that would be the final defeat in the dwindling pockets of workers and their families.
Is it possible to avoid such an outcome? Indeed it is, however, this is organization and struggle.
From this rostrum begins the call to re-articulation of the so-called user committees, committees against the hikes, the consumer protection committees to come before their own government measures on the right and entrepreneurship.
is time to organize and coordinate to stop rising, to stop the strangulation of the household economy, to stop the transfer of the responsibilities that fit the state and not a handful of minority entrepreneurs profit from today despite working people.
