Workers Strike for unpaid wages, taxation and bad working conditions; companies risk be in their contracts expired for not meeting them; machines "pimp" who were often in panne ; a subway (Metro State-owned company) that can barely handle the excess demand caused by deficiencies of micros; permanent increase the value of the ticket without even this will translate into better service, continuing delays in the frequencies, and even more patience "they ask?
transantiago The collapse is a disgrace that all assume as such, but nobody dares take. A blame the previous governments while the former blame the current government's actions, that if previously the AFT, today is the "Expert Committee", if not a design problem must be an implementation issue, and and so it goes: "the dead do not charge anyone," except the dwindling pockets of the popular sectors must use this means of transport to reach their workplaces, hospitals, colleges, universities or other places, today desperately needed to go, because nobody dares to take a ride on Transantiago for mere entertainment.
But among excuse excuse and patience is running out. In 2007, committees were set up users that, after some partial victories, were diluted in the deep right-wing parliamentary debate and consultation which, like most that fewer ended up justifying the capital's transport system and joined enacted laws and decrees that keep Transantiago as terminally ill, connected to emergency budget stabilization funds and national subsidies that make oxygen tube for a system that no longer holds.
Worse, the pompous arrival of the "New forms of governance" introduced a new element, download the cost-of-a failed system users, by increasing the value of the ticket. Ie, a direct increase living costs of Santiago direct or decrease the poverty wages of workers.
If the unit in 2007 allowed users to achieve some improvements, the larger unit today, in 2010, should enable us to achieve substantive goals. At least they have understood a significant amount of social, political, student and trade union, at the call of the FECH and Coordinating Committees Users MRI, have been shaping the coordination of organizations that seeks to attain a decent transport system which is fair use value.
With this in mind the social leaders have emerged as an immediate objective to inform the population of permanent outrage which we view and organize the discontent base already expressed different actions.
These steps today require us to undertake a journey of dialogue and struggle capable of stopping the rise of transportation, which means: to incorporate social factors to the method used to calculate the value of the ticket, returned to the State the responsibility of transporting passengers, first rather than taking responsibility for the routes which private companies have shown absolute inefficiency, an issue that could be carried out by the state-owned Metro, ensure respect and dignity of the drivers and other transport workers, foster a transportation system to consider and promote systems alternatives such as bicycles, motorcycles, etc.. and, similarly, should consider developing a Metropolitan Council Inspector Transportation System, composed of mayors, councilors, student associations, workers, users, the government itself and private companies may fall as operators aim of fulfilling their contracts.
The task is not short or easy, but the determination that drives us is to achieve a system in accordance with the needs and dignity of the users. To do this we have met, therefore we call on march this Thursday, July 8 at 19:00 hours, from Ahumada and heading to Alameda Square to meet with hundreds of users fed up and demand Transantiago the government to fulfill promises made on March 11 to work for the welfare of all Chileans.
